Description

Eucalyptus citriodora is a tall, elegant Australian native known for its distinct citrus fragrance. The tree forms a smooth, pale cream to white trunk that naturally sheds in thin sheets, revealing fresh bark with a satin-like sheen. Mature specimens commonly reach 25 to 40 meters in height, with a slender, upright form and a light, airy canopy of long, narrow, glossy green leaves.

The foliage exudes a strong lemon aroma, most noticeable when leaves are crushed or after rainfall, thanks to high concentrations of citronellal. Small white flowers appear in clusters, followed by woody capsules typical of eucalyptus species. The essential oil derived from its leaves is widely used in perfumery, natural insect repellents, and aromatherapy.

This species thrives in full sun and well-draining soils, tolerating heat, drought, and light frost once established. It grows rapidly in warm climates and is commonly planted as an ornamental avenue tree or in large gardens where its vertical stature and scented foliage can be fully appreciated.
