Description
The species also grows and develops well in dry regions.
Jacarandá is the name in portuguese designed to the woods of genero dalbergia.
India’s jakaranda tree produces surface, heavy, durable and resistant to fast and insect surface wood. It is cultivated as wood planting in india and java, many times in forms of individual species for production of highly desirable, long and straight wood streets.
Your wood is extensely used for manufacturing premium interior and outdoor furniture and high standard cabinets to meet the luxury market.
The species is also exploited in the music market for the manufacture of guitars and games such as chess pieces and chessboards, billiards tables and others.
The species is tolerant of a wide range of soil, but grows best in moist, deep and well-drained soil. Survives at maximum temperatures (37ºc – 50ºc), minimum temperatures of (0ºc – 15ºc).
Dalbergia latifolia is a popular agroforestry species in indonesia, and was introduced in burmania, siri lanka, nepal, nigeria and kenya.
May be concorned with corn, beans, dried rice and cassava for the first three years. In other systems, d.latifolia is plant with sleeve, annona, jaca and guiaba. When the trees of the trees begin closing, it can shadow tolerant crops, as currum and ginger.
Farmers use nitrogen rich leaf as green fertilizer and forage. Bark tanins are used to produce medicinal products. These tanins are also used for producing an appliance.
Germination Guide
🌍 Native to tropical lowland monsoon forests of southeast India, from Nepal to southern India and Java, Indonesia
Easy
Dalbergia latifolia, commonly known as Indian rosewood or Bombay blackwood, is a tropical timber tree native to southeast India and Java. Seeds have no dormancy and germinate readily when provided with warm temperatures and adequate moisture. Germination typically occurs within 7-25 days with germination rates of 45-80% for fresh seeds.

Seed Pre-treatment
-
💧
Soaking — 24 hours
Soak seeds in cool to warm water (12-24 hours, or 24-48 hours for enhanced results). Change water during soaking period if soaking longer than 24 hours.
-
🔨
Hot water scarification
For dried seeds, apply nearly boiling water followed by 12-24 hours soaking to soften seed coat. For fresh seeds, no scarification necessary but soaking accelerates germination.

Additional notes
Seeds have no dormancy. Pre-treatment is optional but pre-soaking in water accelerates germination. Essential for dried seeds that have been stored.
Substrate & Container
Recommended substrate
Well-draining sandy loam, peat and perlite mixture, or porous compost-rich medium
Recommended container
Container with good drainage, polythene bags, or seedbeds. Cover with plastic bag to maintain moisture.
Growing Tips
Use fresh seeds when possible (viability decreases after 6 months). Soak seeds in warm water 24 hours before sowing. Maintain soil moisture but avoid waterlogging to prevent damping-off fungal issues. Provide bright light but shield from direct afternoon sun during early germination. Keep plastic cover on container and open every 2-3 days to refresh air. Transplant seedlings to individual pots after germination and true leaf emergence. Young plants develop a strong taproot with few secondary roots initially. Keep seedlings in protected nursery environment for 6-12 months before field transplanting. Protect seedlings from grazing and fire. Initial growth is slow; ensure regular weeding of nursery beds.
