Description

Pinus ponderosa is a majestic evergreen conifer native to western North America, known for its tall, straight trunk and distinctive orange-brown bark that smells pleasantly of vanilla or butterscotch in warm sunlight. Mature trees can reach heights of 30 to 60 meters and develop a broad, open crown with long, dark green needles grouped in bundles of three.

It thrives in sunny, well-drained soils and is highly adaptable to different climates, from dry mountain slopes to open plains. The Ponderosa Pine is valued for its strong, durable timber and as an important species in reforestation and wildlife habitats.
