Description
A native of the north eastern New South Wales and south eastern Queensland coastal plains where it likes medium to heavy well-drained soils in an open, sunny position. It dislikes both frost and drought.
An evergreen tree to 60 metres (190 ft) with a spread of 5 metres, it is a smaller tree in cultivation but still a very tall tree. The stem is erect and straight (sometimes 2 metres (7 ft) across) and branching with a short stocking of rough, grey bark at the base and smooth, powdery white bark above.
The densely textured crown consists of glossy, dark green, lanceolate leaves to 20cm long. The flower buds are globular and are held closely to the branches (sessile) in groups of 3 to ten while the flowers are greenish-white and appear winter to spring.

Growing Tips
Seeds are very fine and should not be buried. Sow on surface of porous mix. Keep moist but not waterlogged. Fine mist spray to avoid disturbance. Provide high humidity during germination. Do not water seedlings from top; water only from below. Requires bright light after germination. Germination typically occurs in 7-28 days under optimal conditions (18-22°C).
