A large tree from dry forests from Mexico south to Venezuela and Ecuador that is very popular as an ornamental for its abundant pink flowers that appear during the dry season when the tree is leafless. In cultivation it will do well in USDA Zones 9 to 11. In wet climates it needs excellent drainage.
