Seed Pre-treatment
-
Soaking — 24 hours
Pour nearly boiling water on seeds, then soak for 12-24 hours in warm water. Alternative: hot tap water soaking for 24 hours. -
Mechanical scarification
Gently nick or file the seed coat using sandpaper or small knife until inner layer is visible. Avoid scraping the pointed end where root emerges. -
Warm stratification — 1 days at 50°C -
Additional notes
Hard seed coat inhibits germination. Seeds may swell and imbibe moisture after treatment; if not, make a small nick in seed coat and soak additional 12 hours.
Substrate & Container
Recommended substrate
Well-draining potting mix or sandy/loamy soil
Recommended container
Seed tray or pot
Growing Tips
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Place in warm, bright location with indirect sunlight initially. Fresh seeds have higher germination rates. Once seedlings develop two sets of true leaves, transplant to individual pots. The tree requires full sun (6-8 hours daily) and well-draining soil in mature growth. Prefers hot and humid climates.
