Seeds germinate easily, usually between 15 and 30 days; provided that provided the ideal conditions of temperature and humidity. Ideal temperature for germination of the species rotates around 25 to 30º c.

Extremely exotic and a rare acquisition for planting in rocky gardens and soils that promote excellent drainage, or as a prominent specimen for potting.

Germination Guide

🌍 Southeastern Madagascar
Easy

Pachypodium lamerei var. ramosum is a compact dwarf form of the Madagascar Palm endemic to southeastern Madagascar, reaching only 2-2.5 meters compared to the species' 6 meters. This semi-succulent tree is characterized by more freely branching habit from the base and broader leaves than the standard form. Seeds germinate readily with high success rates (80-95% with fresh seeds) when provided with warm temperatures and light exposure.

    Soaking — 24 hours
Soak seeds in warm water at 30°C (86°F) for 24 hours before sowing; seeds sink to bottom when ready

    Additional notes
Soaking in warm water enhances germination rates and shortens germination time

Substrate & Container
Recommended substrate
Well-draining mix: 50% fine perlite, 30% sieved cactus mix, 20% coarse sand; or cactus and succulent potting mix with added perlite and sand; sterilized and pathogen-free

Recommended container
Transparent plastic containers or bags with drainage holes to maintain stable moisture environment

Growing Tips
Soak seeds in warm water (30°C) for 24 hours before sowing on the substrate surface; avoid burying seeds deeply as they require light to germinate. Maintain constant moisture but not waterlogged conditions during germination. Place in bright, indirect light at 25-30°C with bottom heat for optimal results. Keep container covered with transparent bag to maintain humidity and stable environment. Do not discard seeds until 6 weeks have passed, as some may germinate late. Once seedlings develop their third leaf, remove cover gradually to acclimate. Transplant into individual pots after another month of growth. Keep seedlings in bright, indirect light away from direct sun for several months during establishment phase.
