Description
Morphological characteristics: Solitary, erect, annular, fissured, transverse grooved stem measuring about 20 cm in diameter. Numerous fan leaves, divided almost to the base into thin, hanging segments, with long petiole and curved spines at the margins and brown fiber at the base. The inflorescences are branched, dense, hanging in a pending manner between the leaves. The fruits are ovoid or ellipsoid, glaucous (bluish-green) and bright, with orange flesh during ripening.
Cultivation: Its fresh seeds germinate after 50-60 days, with no problems in transplanting the young plant that has to be in semi-shade.
Flowering and fruiting period: Abundant fruiting during the winter months.
Economic uses: Although it is widely used as a potted palm tree, the characteristic shape makes it ideal for landscaping, in groups or as an isolated plant, or for urban afforestation.

Easy
Livistona chinensis, commonly known as the Chinese Fan Palm or Fountain Palm, is a subtropical palm species native to East Asia including Japan, Taiwan, and southern China. Seeds exhibit remote germination and require warm, consistent moisture to successfully develop. When kept at 24-29°C with proper humidity, seeds typically germinate within 1-3 months.

Growing Tips
Use fresh seeds when possible for optimal viability. Soak seeds in warm water for 24-48 hours before sowing. Maintain consistent soil moisture but avoid waterlogging, which causes seed rot. Provide bottom heat (seedling heat mat) at 24-27°C for faster, more reliable germination. Cover seeds lightly with substrate and consider using a humidity dome to maintain consistent moisture. Be patient as germination can be slow and variable. Transplant seedlings when they develop 2-3 leaves into well-draining palm potting mix.
