Lavandula pedunculata, commonly known as Spanish Lavender or Portuguese Lavender, is a Mediterranean shrub valued for its distinctive "rabbit ear" bracts topping flower spikes. This soft-seeded species has no particular seed dormancy but benefits significantly from cold stratification to improve germination uniformity. Seeds require light, consistent warmth, and well-drained soil for optimal germination.

Growing Tips
Sow seeds 8-10 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Press seeds lightly onto soil surface without burial as they require light. Maintain soil at 18-24°C using a heating mat if necessary. Provide 12-16 hours of fluorescent light daily. Water soil in morning to allow drying during day, preventing fungal issues. Keep soil moist but never waterlogged. Ventilate containers every 2-3 days. Once seedlings have 2-3 true leaves, gradually acclimate to direct sunlight before transplanting to final location in spring. This species requires excellent drainage and sunny location; avoid overwatering after transplanting.
