Description
Solanum lycopersicum ‘Oma’s Pink’ is a classic heirloom tomato variety celebrated for its large, smooth pink fruits and outstanding old-fashioned flavor. The indeterminate plants are vigorous and productive, typically reaching 1.8 to 2.4 meters in height, and benefit from staking or caging to support the heavy fruit clusters. The tomatoes are round to slightly flattened, with tender pink skin and juicy, richly flavored flesh that is sweet, well balanced, and low in acidity. This variety is especially prized for fresh slicing, sandwiches, and salads.
‘Oma’s Pink’ thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with regular watering and good airflow. It performs best in warm growing conditions and rewards gardeners with consistent yields throughout the season.
Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Transplant seedlings outdoors only after the risk of frost has passed and soil temperatures are consistently above 16 to 18 °C. In regions with mild winters or frost-free climates, sowing can begin in late winter to early spring for early harvests.
