Description
A beautiful, large conifer to 60 m (200 ft.) tall with a trunk to 2.4 m (8 ft.) in diameter and short branches that form a narrow, conical crown. The thin, glossy green, needle-like leaves can grow to 6 cm long. It is native to the western Himalayas from Afghanistan to Nepal between 2000 and 3000 m (6600 and 9800 ft.). Growing Tips
Seeds are epigeous and can be stored for 7 months. Scarification breaks dormancy and enables quicker germination. Avoid waterlogging during germination as excessive moisture can hinder the process. Light is beneficial for germination. The plant naturally reproduces vegetatively through stolons, making seed production inconsistent in nature.
