Description
Fast-growing and highly adaptable species.
Frost resistant.
High germination rate.
Its leaves are arranged in two vertical rows next to the trunk and give it the extremely exotic appearance of plumes, which gives it its common name.
It is a typically tropical palm with excellent tolerance to subtropical climates. It is frost resistant.
It prefers to be cultivated in full sun and is not demanding as to the type of soil, but it will thrive better in rich and well-drained soils.
Species generally cultivated by collectors, still rare in domestic cultivation.

Moderate
Wallichia disticha, commonly known as the Distichous or Himalayan Feather Palm, is an exquisite and relatively rare palm native to the Eastern Himalayan region and Southeast Asia. This slow-growing palm is characterized by its distinctive two-ranked distichous leaf arrangement, with feather-like fronds arranged in opposite rows along the trunk. Seed germination is moderately difficult and erratic, typically occurring over 4-10 months in warm conditions, requiring patience and consistent care.

Growing Tips
Maintain consistent warmth throughout germination using a heat mat if necessary (27-32°C optimal). Keep substrate moist but not waterlogged. Use a humid propagation chamber or transparent lid, opening it at least once every 48 hours for air circulation and humidity checks. Germination is often erratic and can take several weeks to several months, so patience is essential. Provide bright, indirect light after germination begins. Transfer seedlings to individual pots only after they develop their first true leaves. Acclimatize seedlings gradually to lower humidity and less intense light before planting in permanent locations. Seeds require consistent moisture during germination; allow substrate to dry out can cause germination failure.
