Species in the ginger family, which produces delicious fruits and seeds used as a spice.

Aframomum alboviolaceum or ginguenga as is commonly known at its place of origin, it is a perennial herbaceous plant with crayling rhizomas deep deep in the soil. Makes fresh hamps up to 3 meters in height of habitat of origin. The fruits are red with the white and sweet juicy pulp, sometimes slightly still (taste is unique, impossible to eat only) and very tasty; the same are formed and agglomerated in branches at the plant base.

Habitat of origin is tropical africa, with reach from sierra leone to sudan, south zambia to angola, malawi and mozambique.

The plant has its traditional use as food culture, in medicine and also in spices.

Its seeds are used as a spicy spicant both in food and in production of various alcoholic beverages. Leaves are also used in food and as a spice.
