Description
Jiffy-7 Peat Coir PLA 42 mm pellets are compressed propagation plugs made from coconut coir, designed for efficient and sustainable seed germination. Encased in biodegradable PLA netting derived from plant-based materials, the pellet expands when hydrated to form a cylindrical plug with excellent structure for root development.
The coir medium provides a balanced combination of moisture retention and aeration, reducing the risk of damping-off and root rot while supporting healthy early growth. Compared to peat-based pellets, coir offers improved sustainability and consistent performance. The 42 mm size is suitable for a wide range of seeds, including vegetables, herbs, flowers, and even small tree species that benefit from a slightly larger root zone during early development.
Seedlings can be transplanted directly with the plug intact, minimizing transplant shock and root disturbance. These pellets are ideal for use in trays, propagation systems, and greenhouse environments.
Can be used year-round depending on the species. Most commonly used in late winter to early spring for starting seeds indoors, or anytime controlled germination conditions are required.
