Description
Jiffy-7 33 mm pellets are compact, dehydrated peat discs designed for easy and efficient seed germination. When soaked in water, each pellet expands into a small cylindrical plug of fine peat enclosed in a biodegradable mesh, providing an ideal environment for seed starting.
These pellets offer excellent water retention and aeration, promoting strong root development and reducing transplant shock since seedlings can be planted directly into soil or containers without disturbing the roots. The 33 mm size is suitable for most vegetable, herb, and flower seeds, especially those that benefit from consistent moisture during germination.
Jiffy pellets are widely used in propagation trays, greenhouses, and home gardening setups due to their convenience, cleanliness, and reliability.
Can be used year-round depending on the plant species. Typically used in late winter to early spring for starting seeds indoors before transplanting, or anytime seeds require controlled germination conditions.
Germination Guide
Easy
Jiffy-7 peat pellets are compressed, dried disks of Canadian sphagnum peat moss that expand to 7 times original size when hydrated. Used globally for seed germination and cutting propagation in horticulture. The 33mm size is preferred for seeds and cuttings with adequate space for root development.

Substrate & Container
Recommended substrate
Canadian Sphagnum peat moss with peat-coir mix or coir combinations; pH 4.5-5.5
Recommended container
Seed trays with clear plastic humidity domes; 33mm pellets suitable for small seeds and cuttings
Growing Tips
Maintain 70-90% humidity with clear dome cover; water from bottom tray to avoid overwatering; keep away from direct sunlight until germination; remove dome after sprouting; pelleted net is biodegradable and can be planted directly into larger containers or ground with seedling; older pellets may need soaking while newer ones can be hydrated in tray
