Description
Passiflora quadrangularis is a vigorous, fast-growing perennial vine known for its large, spectacular flowers and giant edible fruits. Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, it features distinctive four-angled stems and broad, glossy leaves. The showy flowers, up to 12 centimeters across, display a combination of red, white, and purple hues with an intricate corona. The massive oblong fruits can reach up to 30 centimeters in length, containing sweet-tart, aromatic pulp that is enjoyed fresh, in juices, or desserts. This species thrives in warm, humid climates with full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, requiring sturdy support for climbing. Both ornamental and productive, it is one of the most impressive passionflower species for tropical and subtropical gardens.
