Description

Native to South and Southeast Asia, this fast-growing, deciduous tree features light green, feathery pinnate foliage and delicate, sweet-scented brush-like flowers in greenish-white hues. It is highly valued as an ornamental specimen, a fast-growing shade tree, and a natural windbreak for large gardens, farms, and open spaces.

In addition to its attractive canopy, Albizia procera is a tough, nitrogen-fixing tree that actively enriches poor soils and supports surrounding plant life. Its rapid establishment and extensive root system make it ideal for land restoration, erosion control, and agroforestry projects, as well as providing light, filtered shade for shade-loving understory plants.

Albizia procera seeds thrive best in warm tropical to subtropical environments with full sun exposure. They prefer moist, well-draining soils ranging from sandy loams to rich alluvial clays, though they display remarkable tolerance to poor, alkaline, or periodically flooded soils. These trees perform best in frost-free regions corresponding to USDA Hardiness Zones 10 through 12.
