Aloe marlothii, commonly known as Mountain Aloe or Flat-flowered Aloe, is a large single-stemmed succulent native to southern Africa. This species germinates easily from seed with relative ease, typically emerging within 2-5 weeks under warm, humid conditions. Seeds should be sown directly on the substrate surface and lightly covered with sand, making it an excellent choice for novice propagators seeking quick results.

Growing Tips
Sow papery seeds in spring in a warm, bright location. Maintain consistent moisture and high humidity using humidity domes or clear covers but avoid waterlogging. Water daily until germination, then reduce frequency. Use sterilized soil and containers to prevent damping-off fungus; fungicide can be applied preventatively. Keep seedlings in warm, shady positions away from intense direct light during germination. Once seedlings develop their characteristic aloe shape (several months to two years), transfer to small pots with loamy soil mix. Water seedlings every few days with care; excellent drainage is critical to prevent root rot. Avoid watering late in the day to minimize disease risk.
