Ligustrum japonicum – Wax Leafed Privet

Description

A beautiful, large, evergreen shrub or small tree, rarely to 6 m tall with simple, leathery, glossy green leaves and showy clusters of white flowers in late summer, followed by small, black fruits. Ligustrum japonicum is native to temperate forests in Japan, Korea and on Taiwan and the Ryukyu Islands. It makes and outstanding ornamental for a wide range of temperate climates and despite its tropical appearance is hardy to quite severe freezes.
