Description

A dry deciduous large shrub or small tree to about 8 m tall with thick branches, large, oblong leaves and masses of heavily scented, pink to white, orange and yellow flowers in terminal clusters throughout most of the year. Plumeria rubra is originally native to Mexico and Central America but is widely cultivated in the tropics and in warm temperate climates. It is one of the most desirable flowering shrubs or trees and there are hundreds of named cultivars, which unfortunately do not come true from seeds, only from cuttings or grafts.
