Description
Solanum lycopersicum ‘Oma’s Orange’ is an heirloom tomato variety appreciated for its large, glowing orange fruits and mild, sweet flavor with low acidity. The indeterminate plants are vigorous and productive, commonly reaching 1.8 to 2.4 meters in height, and require staking or caging to support the heavy fruit set. The tomatoes are typically smooth, round to slightly flattened, with firm yet juicy flesh that is excellent for fresh slicing, salads, and colorful culinary presentations.
This variety performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Good airflow and support help maintain plant health and fruit quality throughout the growing season.
Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and nighttime temperatures remain consistently above 12°C to 14 °C. In warm, frost-free climates, seeds may be sown from late winter to early spring for optimal growth and production.
