Description
Solanum lycopersicum ‘Large Red Cherry’ is a productive tomato variety valued for its generous clusters of medium-sized cherry to small salad-type fruits. The plants are indeterminate and vigorous, typically reaching 1.8 to 2.4 meters in height, and require staking or caging to support continuous fruiting. Fruits are round, smooth, and bright red, larger than typical cherry tomatoes, with juicy flesh and a classic, well-balanced tomato flavor that combines mild sweetness and acidity. This variety is well suited for fresh snacking, salads, garnishes, and light cooking.
This cultivar performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. It is appreciated for its reliability, heavy yields, and versatility in the kitchen.
Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and when soil temperatures are consistently above 16°C to 18°C. In warm or frost-free climates, seeds may be sown from late winter to early spring for optimal growth and extended harvests.
