Description
Solanum lycopersicum ‘Chocolate Cherry’ is an heirloom cherry tomato cultivar prized for its rich, complex flavor and distinctive dark reddish-brown fruits with green undertones. The plant is indeterminate, producing vigorous vines that can reach 1.8 to 2.5 meters in length and yield abundant clusters of round, bite-sized tomatoes throughout the growing season. The fruits have a sweet, slightly smoky taste with balanced acidity, making them ideal for fresh eating, salads, and gourmet dishes.
This variety thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. It performs best in warm conditions and benefits from staking or trellising for optimal airflow and fruit quality.
Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date, or directly outdoors once all risk of frost has passed and soil temperatures remain consistently above 18°C. In warm or frost-free climates, seeds can be planted from late winter through early spring for an extended harvest season.
